QuickScroll - Jailbreak iPhone App Allows you to Scroll through Anything Quickly (Sep 2009 | Credit: www.iphonehacks.com )
If you have jailbroken your iPhone and looking for a faster way to scroll through a web page or PDF document or iPhone home screens then there is an iPhone app for that. It’s aptly called QuickScroll 2 and it is available on Cydia for users who have jailbroken their iPhone. QuickScroll is developed by KennyTM who has developed some very good jailbreak iPhone apps like hClipboard, which was the best "Copy and Paste" solution before Apple introduced the feature in iPhone OS 3.0 and 5-Row QWERTY keyboard, which was extremely popular with our readers. Once you have installed QuickScroll on your jailbroken iPhone via Cydia, you can activate QuickScroll scrollbar with a single tap. You can change the activation to a two-finger or three-finger tap or scrolling by launching the Settings app and going to settings for QuickScroll application. Once activated, you will see a horizontal and vertical scrollbar. QuickScroll also supports paging for PDF documents, which is quite neat. Here is how it works: You can also jump home screens on your iPhone using this feature (though it considers the Spotlight for iPhone as the first home screen). You also have an option to turn off the scroll bar via the Settings app, which enables a 2D scroll pane as seen in the screenshot below. It's a cool feature and you can use it as a trackpad but the scroll bar option more functional. QuickScroll is another superb jailbreak iPhone app by KennyTM and one that you should definitely check out.

New iPhone App - I AM SAFE (Sep 2009 | Credit: www.topiphonenews.com)
There are four simple ways i am Safe will help you in an emergency, (providing you have an adequate signal): All of this happens only upon your activation, and works anywhere in the world, subject to the integrity of the signal on your iPhone. It’s not something you can trigger accidentally as activation begins with a countdown to launch, determined by you on set-up, between 2 and 5 seconds long. To cancel the countdown, you simply slide a bar. I Am Safe is available for download now from the iTunes App Store, priced at USD$6.99. The even better news is that if you are quick you can download it at the promotional price and it will cost you just USD$2.99. You can activate i am safe once for the price of the download, and purchase recharges (if necessary) through the App on your iPhone. Visit I am Safe at: www.iamsafe-mobile.com |

iPhone Apps are Legal for Business Use (Sep 2009 | Credit: www.topiphonenews.com)
There were reports filtering out that iPhone apps may not be legal for business use. Those stories are untrue according to PC World at least for users of the App Store in the US. Those original reports were from language in the terms for Sweden and the UK that said apps are for personal, non-commercial use only. PC World reports that the language from the UK and Swedish App Stores is not present in the app store rules for the US. The Apple TOS apparently places no limitations on the use of apps in the US. PC world figures that the terms and service may have been misunderstood. It wouldn’t make much sense to have apps not be usable legally to business users.

iPhone App Violates Privacy Policy And Compromises Users' Mobile Numbers
. (Sep 2009 | Credit: www.iphonehacks.com)
Did it ever happen to you that you download a free iPhone app from the App Store and there on you are bombarded with dozens of telemarketing calls? A French website, Mac4Ever is reporting that a free Swiss traffic app has done exactly that and the mobile number of a lot of iPhone users have been compromised. The website reports that the investigation into this was made after a lot of its readers reported about calls from telemarketers soon after the download of one particular app called mogoRoad. The comments on iTunes confirms that a lot many users who downloaded this app had in fact received the call. Apple's privacy policies explicitly precludes the company from divulging customer information to the app developers. However, programmers can apparently dig out information about the customer with just one unique line of code in the app. And this loophole has existed on the iPhone SDK since firmware 2.1. Mac4Ever reports: "From a client's side, Apple is the unique entiy you can deal with (except for the support). For a developer, it's quite the same : you can only deal with Apple, who never give you an access to the client's information. But it appears that this behaviour is available since firmware 2.1! So, how can't Cupertino be aware of such a thing? And how many apps are involved?" It is pretty unlikely that Apple is not aware of this potential privacy breach. And considering that close to 70% of the iPhone apps downloaded are free apps, scammers would find this population an easy bait to reach out to. Also in question is the app review procedure. If iPhone apps such as 0870 can be rejected just for mildly inconveniencing its partner carriers, it pretty much mandates that the review staff also look into the core of the app to watch out for any kind of privacy breaches that the iPhone app can cause |
