January 22nd, 2010 § 2

Funkbox vintage drum machine app, from Synthetic Bits.

Based on classic beatboxes from the 70s and 80s, FunkBox lets you push, tap, mix, and groove your way to some seriously funky beats. Designed to look, feel, and sound like a classic beatbox, FunkBox uses original audio samples taken directly from our own personal collection of vintage drum machines. It’s got all the boom snap and tsshhhh you love and crave, plus some bleeps and bloops from the new school thrown in for good measure.

FunkBox was designed to be played with, designed to be fun, designed to be funky. Like the simple but still constantly used classic drum machines from decades ago that inspired it, it may be a little dusty and a little old and a little quirky, but the FunkBox is all about realizing the power of working within limitations and just getting down to making some music. .

It’s focused on doing only what you really need to make yourself some quick funky beats.

FunkBox lets you:

•Push to play the preset patterns, if you just want to listen and play around.
•Slide to adjust tempo, if you want things to move a little slower or faster.
•Choose some dirty funky sounds from a collection of our favorite classic drum boxes.
•Tap to play sounds along in real time and add your own fills to the patterns.
•Tweak and mute the volumes for each part to get the mix you’re hearing in your head.
•Go real deep and edit the patterns themselves using an easy x0x style drum programming grid.
•And even a few more fun little things…

FunkBox Drum Machine can be purchased at Apple Store for $1.99.

Export and Backup SMS from iPhone to PC

January 22nd, 2010 § 5

This tutorial will teach you how to export and backup any SMS messages from your iPhone to a Windows computer using iPhone SMS Transfer.

As we know iTunes provides a Backup function which while syncing an iPhone, splits the iPhone data, including SMS messages, contacts, music, or video etc. into different files extensions and different folders. For example, it will save files in C:\Documents and Settings\[your windows login name]\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\[some id]\ …. Well, complex root. Which annoys most iPhone users is that all the backup files are binary plists.

On another hand, iTunes creates the backup files replacing the old saved data. So your old messages will be lost forever.

In order to export your iPhone messages to Windows computer for backup, it’s worth trying some other programs, such as an iPhone SMS transfer or SMS backup program . As of today iPhone SMS Transfer is the only software compatible with PC.

It lets the user to:
>> View and edit iPhone text message on computer
